Affordable And Sustainable Housing
The proposal is for the provision of an affordable apartment building on a site
at the junction of Fenian Street & Holles Street adjacent to Merrion Square.
The design of the building uses the particular site characteristics, in terms of size and orientation, and particularly it’s suitability to a development of substantial height on a prominent corner location and as a potential prototype for infill residential development on a constricted site.
Eight storeys of residential accommodation over ground floor retail are provided, facilitating the adoption of a rational and repetitive floor plan of two apartment types with dual and triple aspect with natural ventilation and daylight to every internal space.
The building is clad in a punched screen which provides an open-air, semiprivate space giving a high quality micro environment beneficial to each apartment.
