New Detached Dwelling in a Conservation Area by the River Liffey
The site is located within a Special Area of Conservation (SAC) on the steeply sloping North banks of the River Liffey at Islandbridge.
The project called for the demolition of an existing building, formerly a protected structure, and the construction of a high specification contemporary house and annex with a direct connection to the river.
Informed by the existing site conditions, building lines & flood lines of the River Liffey, the building has a closed façade to the North and opens to the South, providing views across and along the River Liffey. The form of the building is punctured along the north elevation creating light wells and allowing views to the Phoenix Park.
